The HSE has admitted staff morale is low and that there is no accountability structure for clinicians within its acute hospital network in the Mid-West. The admissions appear in a HSE document proposing the overhaul of management structures in the Mid-West acute hospital network that this year has a budget of €200m.
As part of the overhaul, the HSE is to set up a trust to oversee the operation of the six hospitals: the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, St John’s Hospital, Ennis General, Nenagh General, the maternity hospital, and Croom Orthopaedic.
After a briefing with the chief executive Ann Doherty, consultant obstetrician Dr Gerry Burke described the proposals as “rampant managerialism” and guaranteed to fail. (Examiner) >
